About Living Waters
The Past
The Church began with a Gospel mission in a tent in Pontypool Park in 1936. Many local people were converted with testimonies of miraculous healing and Holy Spirit baptism being common features under the ministry of Newport evangelist Howell Harris. This group of new Christian believers built Emmanuel Hall, which is now the Pontypool Salvation Army, before moving into the current building on Osborne Road in 1952 at that time using the name “Sharon Church.”
The Present
The church at the Living Waters centre today remains a Christian witness in Pontypool, one of the largest towns in Wales. Our church meetings provide an opportunity for people of all ages to worship God. Our award-winning community work “Hope for the Community,” although motivated by our Christian faith, serves everyone regardless of belief and currently supports hundreds of Pontypool families every year.
The Future
We remain committed to sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ by word and deed in Pontypool. We are currently consulting to construct a new church building, which we hope will be a centre for both for the church and our community in Pontypool. Will you join us?
